Meet Maria

As a mom of two and an SLP with ten years of pediatric experience, Maria understands how to meet kids where they are. She knows that each child’s individual motivation is the key to unlock their communication and learning potential. Maria’s sessions are fun, engaging, and highly individualized to provide the unique combination of support and challenge to result in progress that feels natural and lasts. She loves getting to know children and their families, and she is passionate about making them feel cared for, understood, and valued.

Maria received her Master’s of Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Alabama after receiving a Bachelor’s in both Communication Sciences & Disorders and Music from Florida State University. She specializes in literacy and has extensive training in the Orton-Gillingham approach as well as in the Lindamood-Bell and Wilson programs. Maria also has experience and training in selective mutism, fluency/stuttering, early intervention, speech-sound disorders, autism, gestalt language processing, and attention deficit disorders. She has worked alongside occupational therapists, feeding therapists, and physical therapists, and she regularly incorporates elements of these professions into her practice.

In her free time, Maria loves getting outside with her kids and her wonderful husband, spontaneous baking projects, and playing strategy board games with friends. She is also an avid musician and plays oboe and English horn in several orchestras in the Seattle area. Ask her about upcoming concerts if you are interested in attending!

What families have to say

“If you have a child who needs support with speech, literacy or language, I cannot recommend Maria enough. We have been lucky to have worked with her for many years now to help our son become more confident with speech and literacy skills. In elementary school, our son struggled to help up with his peers when it came to social skills and literacy. They didn't come 'naturally' and it really affected his confidence. Through Maria's thoughtful, patient and highly individualized approach, our son's social and reading skills grew exponentially. As his skills grew, so did his confidence. We are so grateful for Maria's dedication to the families she works with. Thank you for everything you do!”

Our son has been working with Maria for 8 years. She provides treatment with patience and warmth, and her deep insights have guided his progress so that his communication skills have blossomed. Maria is an excellent communicator and collaborates with families on treatment options that work best for the individual. She uses creative ideas and outside-the-box activities to address the individual needs of her clients. Maria has truly changed our lives and we are grateful that we have been able to work with her.
